This Privacy Policy explains how Wallpapers UHD — the website at wallpapersuhd.net and the companion apps published as Wallpapers 4K (the Microsoft Store app for Windows and the Android app), collectively the "Service" — handles your information. The Service is operated by Giuseppe Alioto ("we", "us").

Summary

We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no login, no advertising, and no third-party analytics or tracking. You can browse and download wallpapers anonymously. We do keep anonymous, aggregate usage counts — how many wallpapers were downloaded, and which ones are popular — as described below.

Information we do not collect

  • No name, email address, or account credentials.
  • No location, contacts, photos, or files from your device.
  • No advertising identifiers and no third-party tracking or analytics SDKs.
  • No advertising network. The Service shows no ads.
  • No profiling, no cross-site tracking, and no data sold or shared with third parties.

Anonymous usage statistics

To understand which wallpapers people like and how much the Service is used, we count a small set of anonymous events: a wallpaper being viewed, downloaded, or set as a wallpaper, and one daily site visit. Each recorded event contains only the wallpaper identifier, its category, the type of event, and which client it came from (website, Android app, or Windows app).

These counts are produced entirely on our own server. We use no cookies, no device identifiers, and no third-party analytics service for them, and nothing is stored on your device for this purpose. To avoid counting the same person twice in one day, each event carries a one-way, salted SHA-256 hash derived from the IP address, the browser user agent, and the current date. The hash cannot be reversed into an IP address, and because it includes the date it changes every midnight, so it cannot be used to follow anyone across days or to link them to any other system. The IP address itself is never stored in these records.

These statistics are kept for a maximum of 90 days and are then automatically deleted. They are read only in aggregate, by us, to decide which wallpapers to publish. We process them on the basis of our legitimate interest in measuring and improving the Service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); because the data is pseudonymous, aggregate, short-lived, and confined to our own site, it cannot be used to identify you.

Cookies

The Service uses no advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies, so no cookie consent banner is required. The website may set a single technical session cookie needed for the site to function and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery; it contains no personal data, is not used to track you, and expires when your session ends. The apps set no cookies at all.

How the apps use the network

The apps connect to our server (wallpapersuhd.net) only to load the catalog of available wallpapers, to download the images or videos you choose, and to send the anonymous usage counters described above. These requests do not include any personal data about you, no account or device identifier, and no information about anything else on your device. The Windows app declares only the internetClient capability for this purpose.

Third-party resources on the website

The website loads web fonts and one small open-source JavaScript library from public content delivery networks (Google Fonts and unpkg.com). As with any file requested from the internet, those providers receive the IP address of the request in order to deliver the file. They set no cookies through the Service, and we send them no information about you or about what you browse.

Data stored on your device

Wallpapers you download are saved locally to your device (for example, your Pictures library) and remain entirely under your control. Setting a desktop or lock-screen wallpaper is performed locally by your operating system. App settings (such as your preferred sort order or display fit) are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting server may automatically record standard technical request data (such as IP address, date and time, and requested resource) in temporary logs for security, abuse prevention, and reliability. These logs are not used to identify individuals and are not combined with any other data.

Image sources and licensing

Wallpapers are sourced from third-party providers including Pexels, Pixabay, and Openverse, and are distributed under their respective free licenses. Author attribution, where available, is shown within the app. Full details are on the Licenses & image sources page.

Children's privacy

The Service is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any information from children or any other users.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
